Electric gates in Berkhamsted

Berkhamsted is a market town in Dacorum, strung out along the valley between the A41, the canal and the West Coast Main Line, with the castle ruins at one end and a High Street that has changed a good deal in twenty years. The building stock is a mix: Georgian and Victorian frontages in and around the centre, a large conservation area, and substantial detached property climbing the hills on either side.

That mix decides most of what we do here. On the hills there are long private drives where people want a gate across the entrance, or want the gate they already have to open from the car. In the middle of town the work is railings and boundary ironwork, on frontages where what it looks like matters as much as what it does. Along the A41 and out towards the industrial estates it is vehicle gates, barriers and bollards on commercial sites.

We bought our premises here in 2014, from a man who wanted the building to pass to a local metalworking business rather than to the highest bidder. That is a Berkhamsted sort of transaction, and it is one of the reasons we are still here.
