The makes we work on
"Do you work on my make?" is one of the two questions we are asked most, by homeowners and facilities managers alike. The short answer is almost always yes.
We are not an approved dealer tied to one manufacturer. That means two things: we specify whatever suits the gate and the site rather than whatever we are contracted to sell, and we are not limited to the equipment one brand will let us touch.
What "any make" actually means in practice
It is easy to say and harder to do, so here is what it involves:
Diagnosis across the whole system
A gate that has stopped is a mechanical problem, an electrical problem or a control problem, and often more than one at once. We work across all three rather than only the part we recognise.
Reading somebody else's board
Every manufacturer lays out its control board and its programming differently. Working out what a board is telling you, on a system you did not install and with no documentation left on site, is most of the job.
Parts sourcing
Motors, boards, receivers, safety edges and photocells from manufacturers we do not buy from every week, including for equipment that has been discontinued.
Control board replacement
Where a board genuinely cannot be sourced, we will tell you what it would take to replace it and what would carry over, rather than writing the whole gate off.

If your system is a make that is not on this list, it is still worth ringing. Between them these eight cover most of what is installed in this country, but they are not all of it, and a gate we have not seen before is not a gate we cannot work on.
Got a gate and no idea who fitted it?
That is normal. Most of the systems we look after came to us with no paperwork, no manual and no idea what make the motor is. Send us a photograph of the motor and the control box and we will usually be able to tell you.
