Railings that suit your house and finish the front of it properly. We draw them to your opening and make them in our own workshop in Berkhamsted, for front gardens, driveways, boundaries and estate frontages, in steel, aluminium and traditional wrought iron, finished to last outdoors.

Garden railings, driveway railings and boundary railings, made to fit
Most of what we make is for the front of a house: a run of garden railings along the boundary, a set either side of a driveway entrance, or a low run on top of a wall.
What railings do for a front garden
- They put a line back on a boundary that's been open since the original railings came out.
- They keep children and dogs off the pavement and the road.
- They stop the front garden being used as a shortcut or a parking space.
- They finish the front of the house, which on a period property is often the real reason people call us.
Measured, not ordered
Openings are never square, walls are never level and ground falls away. We measure the run on site, allow for the fall, and make the panels to suit. That's the difference between railings that look as though they belong to the house and railings that look as though they came flat packed.

Garden and front boundary railings
Low to mid height runs along the front of a property, on the ground or on top of an existing wall.
Driveway railings
Runs either side of the entrance, with or without a matching gate across the opening.
Wall mounted railings
Fixed into the top of a brick or stone wall, with the fixings set into the masonry rather than surface screwed.
Estate railings
Traditional round bar estate railings for longer boundaries, paddocks and larger frontages.
Bar and panel styles
Plain vertical bar, traditional wrought iron detail, laser cut panels, or a pattern matched to something already on your property.
Finishes
Galvanised, powder coated in the colour you choose, or painted in a traditional finish.

A gate to match. If the railings run either side of a driveway, the natural next question is what goes across the opening. We make matching gates, and can automate them so they open as you arrive. Automated gates.
Estate, frontage and site railings
Railings on a commercial frontage, a school boundary, a housing scheme or an estate are usually chosen for appearance as much as containment: somewhere a perimeter needs to look like a boundary rather than a compound.
We make and fit those, and where the same site needs a genuine security perimeter behind or beyond the frontage, we're happy to do that too.
Made in the workshop, not ordered from a catalogue
We've had our own manufacturing facility since 2014. Design, fabrication and finishing are all ours, which is why your railings can be made to a drawing and a measurement rather than to the nearest available size.
Where railings involve load bearing or welded structural steel, our factory production control is certified to BS EN 1090-1 and BS EN 1090-2 at execution class EXC2, certificate 2273-CPR-4271.
Common questions
Do you make railings to fit, or fit standard panels?
We make them to fit. Everything is measured on site first, and the panels are made in our own workshop to that measurement, allowing for the fall of the ground and the line of the wall. We can supply plainer standard designs too if that suits the job, but nothing is cut down on the day to fit an opening it wasn't made for.
What finishes are available and how long do they last?
Galvanised, powder coated in the colour you choose, or painted in a traditional finish. The right one depends on the metal, how exposed the position is and how you'd like the railings to look, and those three don't always point the same way: a coastal or roadside frontage has a harder life than a sheltered front garden, and a period property often suits a painted finish that a modern one doesn't. We won't put a number of years on a web page, because a finish that's right for one frontage and wrong for another would make that number meaningless. We'll tell you at the free site survey which finish suits your position, and what looking after it involves.
Can you match existing railings on a period property?
Yes, usually. We do traditional wrought iron detail as well as plain bar, and we can make a run to a pattern taken from something already on the property, whether that's the rest of the frontage, a neighbouring run or a surviving section. Everything is measured on site first and made in our own workshop to that measurement, so a new run follows the fall of the ground and the line of the wall rather than arriving as a standard panel.
