Electric gates and railings in St Albans

St Albans is a cathedral city built on a Roman one, with a great deal of listed and period property and a large conservation area covering much of the centre. What that means in practice is that a gate or a run of railings at the front of a house here is usually being judged on how it looks before anybody asks how it opens, and often has to sit alongside something original.

That suits us, because we make rather than buy in. A run of railings for a Victorian frontage in St Albans is drawn, measured on site, and made in our workshop to that measurement, taking the fall of the pavement and the line of the wall into account. The same applies to a pair of gates across a driveway entrance: made to the opening rather than cut down from a stock size.

The commercial side of St Albans is smaller than Watford's but real: the business parks and industrial areas on the edges of the city, the car parks, and the schools and public buildings that come with a city of this size. Those bring barriers, bollards and controlled entrances, and the same maintenance arrangements we run across the county.
